The small eight acre site is located south of the Great Dividing Range alongside Grampians National Park. The vineyard is planted to granite soils over sandstone, vines are cane pruned and grapes are hand picked with help from the local Moyston Willaura Football Netball Club. Rutherford is an exclusively estate grown and bottled wine vinified from hand sorted Shiraz grapes and treated to the full regimen of Methode traditionelle, followed by twelve months maturation in a selection of well seasoned French oak barrels, before a further two years resting in bottle on sedimentery lees.

Dark ruby colour, persistent purple mousse. Red and black berry bouquets with an overlay of white pepper. A full and flavoursome, mouth filling palate, medium bodied and elegent, exhibiting soft mouth feel with peppery spice undertones. In 1883, notary and wine lover Henri Grandin married Mademoiselle Pouillet de Limesle, whose family owned the cellars at La Bouvraie in the old royal glassworks of Louis XIV, situated underneath a splendid castle at Ingrandes sur Loire. In 1886, he launched the label that bears his name. Grandin remains to this day an elegant sparkling with an exceptional palate, fine bead and exquisite bouquet. An assemblage of fruit from the Loire, Bordeaux and Charentais, is treated to a natural secondary ferment in bottle for a year, within the darkness of the 17th century Grandin cellars.

To this base, a small quantity of drawing liquid, called Prise de mousse, is added to induce a secondary vinification. The fermenting wine is bottled and corked, encouraged by the action of waking yeasts. A second fermentation ensues under the caves of H. Grandin, hidden from light and far away from the warmth of Valley Loire. It is this ancillary ferment which fills the wine with effervescence. After a year in bottle, ageing on sediment lees, the characteristic subtlety and finesse evolves into the character and style that's known around the world as Grandin.

Since 1886, Grandin have been producing the finest and most successful Vin Mousseux in all of Vallée Loire. These are France's most amiable and approachable sparkling wines, renowned for their freshness and titillating aromaticness. Crafted to full and true Methode Traditionelle, Grandin begins with a rigorous selection of fruit, before being treated to a regimen of ancient vinification techniques and a minimum twelve months under secondary ferments, building creamy texture and infusing flavour.

An attractive sparkling wine, profuse effervescence and rich straw gold color. Scents of floras and yeast, light citrus and hints of toast. A palate of juicy, flavours, delicate almond and hazelnut characters are supported by citrus fruits and buttered brioche notes. Crisp and elegant, a fully rounded palate, lingering with vitality and exquisite freshness on the finish.

Vinified from the Barossa's traditional Port varietals, mostly Grenache, the balance Mourveprdre and Shiraz, assembled to an average age of ten years. Grant Burge craft their exquisite Old Tawny to the Iberian Solera system, achieving a higher standard of fortified wine year after year. The spicy fruit flavours are delivered by the high proportion Grenache and add a lifted freshness to the more complex rancio characters in the background. The palate is smooth and rich, its moreish opulence is balanced by an elegant, drying finish.

$3399each $407DOZEN EACH DOZEN Grant Burge is well positioned to produce the Barossa's most remarkable, aged tawny port wines. Parcels of Grenache, Mourverdre and Shiraz are crushed into traditional open fermenters, arrested at the desired sweetness by the addition of brandy spirit. After pressing and clarification, components are matured in a selection of older oak barriques and hogsheads, slowly achieving superb harmony and complexity without adding any obvious oak character. A solera system of rack offs and top ups is employed to construct a palate of consistency and to improve the quality of fortifieds into perpetuity. A limited quantity of Aged Tawny is drawn for bottling each year, as barrels are topped up with stocks from younger vintages.

Golden tawny colour. Complex rancio notes show through on the bouquet, espresso and carob, spiced navy rum and treacle, together with some fresh fruit characters and spirit warmth. The palate is sweet and mellow, a harmonious balance of developed fruit characters and oak tannins, ample fruit flavours and evolved tawny richness, finishes satisfyingly dry.

An assemblage of old, to very old stocks Muscat à petit grains, patiently matured under the Grant Burge cellars in a selection of well seasoned, larger format oak barrels. Painstakingly aged to the Iberian Solera system, as the batches progress along a virtual conveyer belt, topped up with vintages of fresher Muscat as the angels take their share. A luscious, complex wine with enormous depth of toothsome flavours, ample aged rancio richness, balanced by fresh fruit, for a wine that develops cleanly on an everlasting, moreish finish.
